job description

Under the supervision of the Animation Director, the Senior Animator’s role is to bring the characters to life by portraying movements and behaviour with convincing motions, as well as defining posing and timing to create high-quality keyframe animations. The candidate will be working closely with the art and programming team to create optimized gameplay/cinematic animations designed for Unreal 4.

role & responsibilities

  • Animate characters, environments and cameras within the constraints of the game;
  • Ensure the artistic integrity and quality of assets produced;
  • Identify development issues as they arise;
  • Participate as a team member in determining various aesthetic solutions;
  • Provide feedback to other members of the production;
  • Establish and enforce workflow procedures and effective pipeline practices;
  • Have a deep understanding of the principles of animation and how to employ those principles to create a performance that supports the characters and story goals of the production.

qualifications & experiences

  • A diploma in Computational Arts, Computer Graphics and/or 3D Animation;
  • Minimum of 8 years experience in the field of video-game animation;
  • Strong portfolio;
  • Knowledge of animation techniques; 
  • Keyframe Animation Experience;
  • Strong knowledge of Maya;
  • Experience with Unreal Engine 4;
  • Ability to work within an established pipeline and learn to use custom tools;
  • In-depth knowledge of anatomy; 
  • A proven artistic ability;
  • A passion for video games.

additional skills 

  • Experience in AAA video game development;
  • A proven ability to work in a team environment;
  • Autonomous, rigorous, organized and with a problem-solving mindset;
  • Bilingual in English and French, spoken and written;
  • An experience in the film industry would be a plus, but not a requirement.

Founded in 2015 in Montreal, Scavengers Studio is an independent video game studio bringing together a diverse team of daring creators. The company launched their first game Darwin Project, 3 years later. The studio experienced a wind of change in 2019, as cofounder Amélie Lamarche became the chief executive officer, giving birth to their second project called Season. 

Designing and imagining all of the video games they produce, this multidisciplinary group aims to provide unique experiences to its players through unique worlds. Pushing aside conventions, the studio is a playground that stands out for its variety of perspectives, a place where challenge and collaboration are the basis of creation.

Our project

We are currently building a game called Season.

Close your eyes, take a deep breath and let yourself be carried away by the journey of Season, a third-person atmospheric adventure bicycle road trip game. The premise of Season is that you play a traveller recording the last moments of different cultures before they’re washed away. Through the eyes of a young woman leaving a secluded community, you explore the wider world for the first time.
